Art Young 's Notes of Interest

  • First major bowhunter of the 20th Century to popularize the sport, along with his friend, Dr. Saxton Pope. Dr. Pope wrote of their U.S. and Alaskan adventures in his book, Hunting with the Bow & Arrow
  • By starring in the first bowhunting film (silent film released in 1923), Art Young's Alaskan Adventures, brought bowhunting to a nationwide audience; and inspired people like 25 year-old Fred Bear, and many others, to take up the sport
  • Bowhunted in Africa with Dr. Saxton Pope, leading to Pope's second book, The Adventurous Bowmen
