  • National Bowhunters Hall of Fame
  • The Father of Modern Bowhunting: popularized the sport in films, books and television appearances during the 1940's, 50's, 60's and 70's.
  • Founder of Bear Archery; also co-founder of the Archery Manufacturers & Merchants Organization (AMO), and the American Archery Council
  • Holder of numerous archery related patents, including the shooting glove, bow quiver, integral bowsight, interchangeable grip, 2-piece and 3-piece take-down bow, application of fiberglass to the bow, interchangeable Converta-Point arrow system, and many more
  • Recipient, National Field Archery Association's Compton Medal of Honor, 1964
  • National Sporting Goods Association Industry Hall of Fame, 1965
  • Recipient, Winchester Western Outdoorsman of the Year Award, 1976
  • Recipient, National Archery Association’s Thompson Medal of Honor, 1977
